A Burglar Alarm’s Circuit Diagram is Confidential

Burglar alarms are essentially open or close electrical circuits that are installed along a passageway or entry point of a house. Once the circuit is opened or closed, as the case may be, a switch is tripped off and an alarm is sounded, indicating that the circuit has been breached. When installing burglar alarms inside your home and along the perimeter of your house, it is advisable to keep a circuit diagram of the security system that you are putting up and keep it in a safe place just in case you would find the need to refer to it in the future. A circuit diagram is simply an illustrative presentation of an electrical system showing how all the components connect together to form the circuitry.

There are generally two types of circuitry for burglar alarms. In the open circuit system, the electricity starts to flow into circuit and sounds the alarm when an entry point such as a door or a window is opened. On the other hand, electricity flows into a close circuit system for as long as entry points like doors and windows remain closed. Once these are opened, the electrical flow is cut off and triggers the alarm.

Closed circuit burglar alarms are generally better because open circuit systems can be easily defeated by a burglar by cutting the wires of the security system. If you are not too familiar with electrical systems, a circuit diagram would help you better understand the working mechanics of close and open circuitry systems. Circuit diagrams are not that difficult to understand and most symbols have been internationally standardized. In fact your high school kid is probably familiar with one having most likely used it as a reference in constructing one of his science projects.

If you are putting up a complex system of hardwired burglar alarms in your home premises and perimeter, your home security technician will normally draw a schematic circuit diagram to help him design the actual circuitry and estimate the cost of labor and materials needed to install the system. Just in case the burglar alarms malfunction, the circuit diagram will also serve as an important table reference for the security technician preparatory to an actual site visit and inspection of your home security system.

 You must remember, however, to treat the diagram as a vital document because it discloses the electrical and electronic security layout of your house. Keep it in a safe place because if it falls into the wrong hands, the security and safety of your property, valuables and loved ones could be compromised.
