House Burglar Alarms: Get one that fits your needs
Perhaps, few would ever argue that the world we live in has become more dangerous than ever. Street crime is on the rise and more homes and offices are being broken into. Many people fear that unless they do something to protect their property and the safety of their loved ones, their homes might be the next target of burglars and intruders. The simplest way to deter and prevent intrusions and burglaries is the installation of house burglar alarms.
These house burglar alarms work by setting off a loud siren once an intrusion into your home is detected. This alerts the homeowner and neighbors that your home is being broken into which scares away the intruder. The other type of home security system silently sends an alert message to the police or security office that an intruder has broken into your home. The police or security unit then sends in a squad car to check the report and apprehends the intruder.
Most house burglar alarms operate through magnetic switches installed on windows and doors that trip an alarm once an intruder forces a door open or breaks a window glass pane to sneak into your house. This type of home security system can only guard the portions of your house where intruders are expected to pass through like doors and windows. A more effective type of house burglar alarm uses electronic sensors that sweep the outside perimeter of your house, or interior premises like your living room or bedroom. Once these sensors detect an intruder’s movement, bodily heat or change in room air pressure due to the opening of a door or window, the alarm system goes off by sounding a loud siren.
These modern house burglar alarms are even equipped with a back-up power pack to assure their continuous operation even if your neighborhood experiences a power outage when power lines are down due to accidents or strong winds. The battery pack operates the sensors, control panel, sirens and even a built-in cellphone unit that sends a distress call to the police station or security office once a break-in occurs.
The types of house burglar alarms range from the hard-wired type that takes at least several hours to install by a professional technician to the do-it-yourself wireless type that can be installed by the homeowner in a jiffy. There are home security systems that sound off a loud siren and flashes outdoor strobe lights to scare the intruder away. Other security systems just silently send a distress call to the nearest police station or security office which sends an armed response to the site of intrusion. The cost of the house burglar alarm system varies widely depending on the sophistication of the security system. So, if you are planning to buy a house burglar alarm, you should first survey your house through the eyes of a burglar to be able to see its weakest points. Only then can you decide which home security system would best fit your needs.
