Burglar alarms used to be exclusively installed in commercial establishments and institutions, such as banks, museums and offices where the value of the property and vital documents being protected by the security device justified the huge expense needed in installing the burglar alarm system. There is the type that emits a loud siren with flashing lights designed to wake you up from your deep slumber and startle the intruder and make him scamper away. And, there is also the type that issues a “silent alarm” by sending a distress call to the police station making it possible for police officers to apprehend the intruder before he realizes what happened.
